The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through its Department of Social Welfare headed by Isabel Martín, has held several meetings with representatives of the Disgrup Foundation to assess and analyze possible solutions in services for physical disabilities, as well as the design of a future center for the care of functional diversity on the Island.
Martín emphasizes that this is a historical demand of the people belonging to this group on the Island, who have seen how their requests have been ignored and the administration has not provided the necessary means to help improve their quality of life.
Faced with this circumstance, the Cabildo of Lanzarote is leading the initiative to, through these meetings with the associations of the Island, learn about their requirements and, sooner rather than later, be able to provide a response that allows these people to be given the same opportunities.
In that sense, the councilor stresses that they are already working on the first steps to achieve the goal of having that facility, guaranteeing and improving the provision of this essential service for the care of these people and their respective families.
Isabel Martín values the work that the Disgrup Foundation carries out in defending and promoting the social and labor integration of people with functional diversity, carrying out awareness-raising work on related issues, as well as the development of proposals and projects for their treatment.
In addition, the Councilor for Social Welfare stresses the commitment of the Cabildo of Lanzarote to equal opportunities for access to information, training and resources, initiating lines of action that allow to overcome the obstacles that these people face every day.
