"We don't want to be killed, we don't want to be raped for being women," said this Thursday the president of the Canary Islands Parliament, Astrid Pérez, who has advocated continuing to work from the Chamber to increase awareness of gender violence.
Astrid Pérez made these statements in a symbolic action in the Parliament of the Canary Islands on the occasion of the Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, with the placement of a panel that will remain on display so that deputies can share reflections and commitments.
In her opinion, the fact of being born women "cannot be in any case an adjective of dangerousness."
She has advocated educating children from an early age in values, equality and respect and "thus we will avoid and eliminate this scourge, because it is beginning to be a scourge, of violence against women," she added.
The President of the Parliament of the Canary Islands has pointed out that the Chamber cannot be oblivious to the celebration of the Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which will take place next Saturday.
For this reason, she has announced awareness-raising events to, "once and for all, eradicate violence against women."
