The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, has signed this Wednesday a provision with the requirement to the company Clece S.A. to within 20 business days, "proceed to the start of the works of the Argana Pavilion", according to the technical project drafted and signed on January 19, 2021 by the engineer José Alexis Betancort Cabrera.

This request from the mayor is made after last February 3, her government partner, Coalición Canaria, assured that it was necessary to act “urgently” in the Pavilion, which has been closed for more than a decade.

From the City Council they remember that the award contract to Clece was signed in April 2018 “for an amount of 3,345,000 euros”, for the concession of exploitation of the public service of physical activity, leisure, recreation and sports in the facilities of the Arrecife Municipal Sports Park and the Arrecife Municipal Sports Palace, which previously had to be subjected to works to proceed with its reopening.

“Since we arrived at the Arrecife Government, in June 2019, we have made a modification of the project, and several technical and legal reports so that the works would begin as soon as possible,” says the mayor. From the City Council they assure that they have prepared “reports of Classified Activities, the Technical Office and legal and economic reports on these works”, always in line with getting the project “started”.

Now, they have given this term of 20 days to the company Clece to start the works and to coordinate the relevant actions with the Contracting department and the Municipal Technical Office, after, “despite the goodwill shown by the City Council”, the works for the start-up of the Argana Alta Sports Palace have not yet been “initiated or executed”.
