The Municipal Government, led by Mayor Yonathan de León Machín, has put out to tender the works for the construction of a canopy that provides shade to the stands of the Argana Alta Municipal Football Field, within the plan launched during this term to renovate and improve sports facilities in the neighborhoods.

The Arrecife City Council allocates an investment of 244,734.94 euros for these works. Interested companies have until January 20, 2025, to submit economic and technical proposals.

Mayor Yonathan de León has detailed that "this new work on the Argana Alta Football Field will be added to other improvements for this neighborhood, the most populated, where the City Council, jointly with the Department of Public Works of the Cabildo, led by Vice President Jacobo Medina, plans to create an area with multi-purpose sports courts in the area near the facilities of the Insular Fire Station, on insular land".

Yonathan de León, accompanied by the Vice President of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, and the Councilor for Sports, Eli Merino, have visited this football field where other actions are planned from the City Council throughout 2025.

The mayor "was also pleased that in 2025 the residents of Argana, athletes, and clubs will once again enjoy the facilities of the Argana Alta Sports Hall, which, after more than 11 years closed, has been possible to start with this government group the legalization works that will allow its reopening and sports use."

The mayor has announced that "during 2025 the sports facilities in the neighborhoods of Arrecife will make great progress with the many projects and investments that are underway, as we already see in Altavista, Las Salinas, San Francisco Javier, or the Arrecife Port Football Field, among others".

The Arrecife City Council has had the financing of the Cabildo's Cooperation Plans for the execution of these improvements in the Argana Alta Football Field, funds that have been channeled through the Department of Public Works of the Cabildo, led by Vice President Jacobo Medina.

For the vice president, "implementing improvements on the island with the collaboration and cooperation between institutions makes it possible for citizens to have better public facilities, also, in this neighborhood of Argana Alta, the nucleus with the largest population on the island".

The Councilor for Sports of Arrecife, Eli Merino, has remarked that the objective of her Department is to continue "making improvements to the municipal sports facilities. And in this first part of the term, several works have been launched to build canopy areas in the football fields of Arrecife. We are very fortunate to have good weather throughout the year, but we must provide facilities that generate shade in these public facilities to minimize the effects of sun exposure".
