The Arrecife City Council Plenary approved in the ordinary session held this Thursday to ratify the content of the Institutional Declaration of the Canary Islands Federation of Municipalities (FECAM) on the occasion of International Women's Day. The
proposal came through a motion from the groups of the Canarian Coalition, Popular Party and Socialist Party, since the Mixed Group (two councilors from VOX) refused to support it.
“It is important to show citizens our commitment as an institution, to work for a more egalitarian society and to claim rights that have not yet been acquired in fact or are at risk,” said the mayor of the capital's Consistory, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Maite Corujo, expressed that “International Women's Day continues to be an unavoidable date to defend and advocate for the rights and equality of all women”.
