The City Council of Arrecife raises to public consultation the new ordinances of Cycling Mobility and of the Public Bicycle System of Arrecife, which will convert the capital of Lanzarote into the first municipality of the island in offering a public bicycle service for urban mobility.
The Municipal Government, led by mayor Yonathan de León, already has deployed in different neuralgic points of the city nine charging and parking centers, which has been executed with EU funding for mobility systems, complying with the parameters established through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan with the NEXTGENERATIONEU plan. This community fund financing established a date for the assembly, an aspect that the Arrecife City Council already has covered and guaranteed.
Now, completed the installation, the Department of Mobility and Transport, headed by councilman Mario González Altube, has published since this Tuesday, April 21, on the electronic headquarters of the Arrecife City Council the new “Ordinance of Mobility and the Public Bicycle System of Arrecife” for its mandatory public consultation process before its next initial approval in the municipal plenary session.
Councilman Mario González Altube has detailed that “this ordinance will regulate the circulation and parking of bicycles in the municipality of Arrecife. It establishes rules for access, use, operation, and the sanctioning regime of the upcoming municipal public bicycle loan system”.
Furthermore, within the public transport modernization projects in Arrecife, with a global investment of five million euros in this term, for new buses and equipment associated with mobility, the implementation of this public bicycle system will promote sustainable mobility, will improve road coexistence and will contribute to a healthier and more sustainable city.
