The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has encouraged the restaurants and hotels of the capital to open on Sundays. In addition, he has reported that this October 8, the cruise ship Anthem of the Seas will arrive in the capital of Lanzarote with 6,500 people on board, mostly North American tourists.

Within the Dynamization Plan that the Arrecife City Council is developing, through the Department of Tourism, Commerce and Sports, to support the small business sector, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday several activities will be carried out in the vicinity of Calle Real and surrounding areas that encourage the presence of residents and tourists. This Plan, launched last September coinciding with the start of the cruise season - where Arrecife is the fastest growing port in the Canary Islands - aims to make the capital a place for shopping and leisure for tourists who stay during their holidays on the island, and those who make a stopover on tourist cruises.

The Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Sports, Eli Merino Betancort, has detailed that this plan includes proposals for this weekend such as dance shows, live painting, acoustic performances, rociero choirs, and musical performances by Canarian parranderos groups.

These activities take place in the afternoon, this Friday, 6th, and in the morning on Saturday, 7th and Sunday, October 8th.

Eli Merino has remarked that these actions, known by the commercial sector, are intended to encourage small businesses to make the necessary decision to bet on opening their establishments on holidays and Sundays, which allow residents and tourists to have more options to make their purchases in traditional shops, or enjoy days of leisure, free time and consumption on the terraces of the city, which in recent years have closed in the commercial area of Arrecife on holidays and Sundays.
