Arrecife intensifies this summer the improvement and conservation of the 13 public schools in the municipality

The Arrecife City Council takes advantage of the summer months to intensify conservation, maintenance, and improvement work in the municipality's educational centers, an action coordinated between the Employment and Education departments, led by Deputy Mayor Echedey Eugenio, and Councilor Abigail González, respectively, through the Social Employment Program and Arrecife Activa 2025.

The interventions are carried out in the 13 educational centers dependent on the City Council with the aim of ensuring that the facilities face the next academic year in the best conditions of safety, functionality, and conservation.

“Summer is the ideal time to undertake larger-scale actions in schools without interfering with teaching activities. From the City Council, we continue to demonstrate that employment policies also have a direct impact on the improvement of public services, generating job opportunities while we take care of fundamental infrastructure for thousands of families in Arrecife,” emphasizes Echedey Eugenio.

For her part, Abigail González highlights that “our commitment is to maintain schools in the best conditions throughout the year, but we especially take advantage of the summer period to advance actions that require greater planning. Each of these improvements responds to needs communicated by the centers themselves and aims to offer safer, more accessible, and adequate spaces for students and teaching staff."

Actions

The actions include both preventive maintenance tasks and specific repairs aimed at restoring the functionality of deteriorated elements. These include plumbing, sanitation, masonry, painting, restoration of walls, maintenance of roofs, carpentry, and flooring, waterproofing, adaptation of patios, renovation of coverings, and attention to minor breakdowns, in addition to other interventions aimed at improving the safety, accessibility, and durability of educational facilities.

Precisely this week, Echedey Eugenio and Abigail González supervised the work being carried out at the CEIP Capellanía del Yágabo, where the gymnasium floor is being replaced. This floor, made of a wooden platform, had problems with loosening, deterioration due to humidity, and loss of its functional performance. The action includes the installation of a new sports floor, suitable for physical activities and guaranteeing optimal conditions of safety, durability, and comfort for users.
