The video surveillance camera system, recently implemented in strategic points of the city by the Department of Cleaning of the City Council of Arrecife, is beginning to yield the first results and in just one week 16 records have been raised for infractions to the municipal ordinance of waste, after identifying those responsible for illegal dumping of furniture and appliances.

Of the registered records, three correspond to companies that failed to properly manage their waste, depositing it outside the domestic waste collection containers.

The offenders were informed of the municipal services available, such as the free collection of furniture at home by telephone request, as well as the location of the clean points for the correct disposal of these materials.

The Councilor for Cleaning, Jacobo Lemes, after pointing out that this work is key to combating incivility, has stressed that "these irresponsible acts not only dirty our streets, but also directly affect the image and health of Arrecife and the health of our neighbors. We are not going to tolerate it anymore, and the sanctions are a sign of our commitment to a cleaner and more environmentally friendly city."

Likewise, the mayor has stressed that "this increase in interventions has been possible thanks to the mobile camera system installed by the Department of Cleaning", a system that rotates through the most conflictive locations.

This mechanism has allowed to improve the identification of offenders and strengthen security around the waste contribution points. "Citizen collaboration is essential to ensure the success of this plan. We need everyone to get involved in the care of Arrecife," Lemes emphasizes.

The mayor recalls once again that the collection of furniture is free and simple. "We ask our neighbors to make use of this service instead of abandoning waste on public roads, generating problems for everyone," he said.
