The Department of Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, directed by the Deputy Mayor Echedey Eugenio, organizes once again the events on the occasion of the San Juan festivity, a celebration deeply rooted in the popular tradition and in the feeling of Arrecife and Lanzarote.
Although this year June 24 is not a holiday in the island's capital, the Department of Festivities wanted to keep the tradition alive and offer residents and visitors a day full of music, popular flavor and symbolism.
The party will take place on Monday, June 23 at the old fairgrounds, next to the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and will take place from five in the afternoon until midnight. Throughout the day there will be live musical performances that will set the rhythm for a very special afternoon-night. On stage, artists such as Dani Valiente and his orchestra, Mambo Latino, Rika Banda, Grupo Bomba and Emisora Clandestina will follow one another.
There will also be one of the most emblematic moments of this celebration: the traditional San Juan bonfire, a symbol of renewal and good wishes, and, of course, the popular grilled pineapple and sardines, to which all attendees are invited.
“Hundreds of people will gather again around the fire and the most traditional flavors”, says Echedey Eugenio, who emphasizes that “although this year the big day is not a holiday, from the Department of Festivities we wanted to keep the spirit of San Juan intact, a celebration that is part of the soul of Arrecife”.
Eugenio also stressed that this event “is an opportunity to celebrate our traditions and enjoy the beginning of summer in a safe, familiar and festive atmosphere”.
Thus, the deputy mayor invites the entire population to join this event and enjoy an experience that combines music, fire and tradition in the heart of the capital of Lanzarote.
