Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Beaches, has requested Canal Gestión Lanzarote to provide a report on the action plan it is undertaking to resolve the breakdown of the Argana Alta wastewater pumping station, which began almost a week ago.
"The measure has been adopted after the presence of wastewater was confirmed this Friday in the Punta del Camello area, at the same time that some dead fish have appeared in the Charco de San Ginés, without the City Council knowing if both incidents are related to the failure at the Arrecife EDAR station," they explain from the Consistory.
In any case, the City Council has recommended to all residents of Arrecife "to take extreme precautions in the affected areas."
In the letter addressed to the company, they point out that "due to the latest episodes of water contamination in the municipality of Arrecife, as a result of the breakdown that occurred last Saturday at the Argana Alta wastewater pumping station," they require them to send "as soon as possible" a "detailed report of the actions they are taking to resolve said breakdown, and the expected completion date.”
