The Arrecife City Council is carrying out cleaning work this week inside the Charco de San Ginés, in the area near Las Cuatro Esquinas, "due to the enormous proliferation of wipes, sanitary pads and other waste that have surfaced in the place after large tides were recorded." Last May 1, La Voz already echoed the video recorded by a neighbor, protesting the lack of civic responsibility of citizens.

Now, the City Council points out that this Friday the 8th is a full moon day and that has made possible this week - the first of May - the registration of large high and low tides. Thus, the Department of Cleaning of the Arrecife City Council, under the direction of Councilor Roberto Herbón, has promoted a new cleaning campaign inside the Charco de San Ginés 'at low tide'.

From the Department of Environment, under the direction of the councilor Ángela Hernández, they emphasize that these organic wastes had reached El Charco "due to the uncivil behavior of citizens who have thrown them, when they are wastes that should be deposited in bins, never in the sea or in drains that communicate with sewage networks."

"Personnel from the concessionary company of the Municipal Cleaning Service, given this proliferation of waste registered in recent days, have already managed to remove the garbage so that the Charco provides cleaner waters and free of organic waste," they point out from the Consistory.

For his part, the Councilor for Cleaning has demanded greater civic responsibility among citizens. "Garbage must be deposited in its corresponding places. The sea returns to the shore everything that is thrown into its waters and they are not natural elements of its ecosystem," emphasized the popular councilor.
