The Association of Consumers and Users of Lanzarote, Aculanza, has denounced the closure of the airport pharmacy, which occurred in June. According to this group, the facility hung the "temporary relocation" sign in the summer and has not reopened since. This pharmacy, they say, served a population "much higher" than 1,000 users per day.
With this complaint, Aculanza joins the complaint of the Platform of Pharmacists without a Pharmacy Office ( Plafarma), which last week stated that the pharmaceutical map contemplates one pharmacy for every 2,015 inhabitants. Hence, Aculanza is now wondering how many businesses of these characteristics are missing in Lanzarote.
For the moment, Plafarma has already filed a claim with the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands against the resolutions of May and June, which contemplate the transformation of four pharmacies in the Archipelago into a pharmacy. This implies a reduction in public service hours, as well as a much smaller medicine warehouse.
For all these reasons, Aculanza has begun to address this issue and demand the replacement of the pharmacy at the Guacimeta airport. It has also wondered why Arrecife has only one pharmacy on duty, when the capital far exceeds 50,000 inhabitants.
From Aculanza they have denounced this situation, which they have said is "very unfavorable" for the users of the pharmacies of Lanzarote. For example, in towns like Playa Honda, with more than 10,000 inhabitants, there are currently only two pharmacies, given the closure of the establishment at the airport.
Aculanza hopes that this "anomalous situation will end and a solution will be found as soon as possible."
