The Corporate Social Responsibility Unit of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Sports area and the General Directorate of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy of the Government of the Canary Islands, has launched a new awareness campaign to promote blood donation among the island's population.

This initiative, which stems from the institutional commitment to public health and citizen solidarity, aims to raise awareness about the importance of donating blood regularly, especially in a context where the levels of blood banks in the Canary Islands are in a critical situation.

The campaign includes a series of activities that will take place in sports and municipal spaces on the island, with the presence of mobile donation units, informative talks, solidarity sports activities, and the distribution of informative material to encourage the active participation of citizens.

The vice president, Minister of Finance, and head of the CSR Unit, María Jesús Tovar, who met, highlighted that "these actions reflect our desire to continue building bridges between the administration and society." "Donating blood is a simple act that saves lives, and from the Cabildo we want to facilitate and encourage this solidarity gesture among public workers, athletes, and residents of Lanzarote," she added, who greatly appreciated the willingness and help of sports clubs and federations to collaborate in this event."

For his part, the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, stressed the importance of linking sports with health and solidarity: "Sport is a powerful tool to raise awareness and mobilize society. It is a magnificent opportunity for athletes, clubs, and users of our facilities to join this cause."

It should be remembered that the Cabildo of Lanzarote took over as the blood donation headquarters in the province of Las Palmas, in an event that took place in Gran Canaria last June.

The sporting events in which this activity will take place will be held on Saturday and Sunday. First, it will be held in the Women's League 2 match that will pit Magec Tías "Against gender violence" against Hierros Díaz Extremadura Miralvalle at 18:00 in the Tías Pavilion.

At the end, in the same sports facility and at 20:00, the same initiative will be carried out in the derby of the Division of Honor Gold that will pit CB Puerto del Carmen and CB San José Obrero. On the other hand, it will also be done in the match of the same category in the San Bartolomé Pavilion, between CB Zonzamas and Ikasa Madrid.

On Sunday, there will be four sporting events in which the awareness activity will take place: at 10:00 in the Insular League of 8.55 Dinghies in the Insular Center of Nautical Sports; at 12:00 in the Third Division RFEF match of UD Lanzarote; at 13:00 hours in the Titerroy Pavilion the match of CB San José Obrero of the Men's Territorial League; and finally, at 13:00 hours in Marina Lanzarote with the final of the A1 Padel Lanzarote Open.
