The Platform for the defense of labor rights held a protest this Wednesday in front of the Be Live Experience Lanzarote Hotel, located in Costa Teguise, whistling at the entrances of the hotel establishment.

The reason for the concentration, according to the platform in a statement, has been "the dismissal of a worker who demanded before the management of this hotel that the minimum rest of 12 hours between shifts be respected, in accordance with the provisions of the Workers' Statute and the Sector Agreement".

And, according to the Platform for the defense of labor rights, "the company repeatedly fails to comply" with the rest time so that "barely seven or eight hours pass from the end of a work shift and another begins with the consequent lack of rest and exhaustion of staff".

"Following the chain of non-compliance with the law by this company, this same worker informed them in writing of the correct procedure to follow for the enjoyment of staff vacations, enjoyment that the company managed at will without taking into account the approaches established in the Workers' Statute and in the applicable Agreement", the Platform for the defense of labor rights also points out.

Thus, in the face of the dismissal, they affirm that a lawsuit has also been filed in the Social Courts of Arrecife "for violation of fundamental rights" and a complaint with the Labor Inspectorate.
