This Friday Canal Gestión, the company in charge of water management on the island, has suspended the water supply in Haría and Tinajo. Specifically in the Guinate area (Haría) and in La Costa and Tajaste (Tinajo), as reported by the company on its website.
In addition, the residents of Tías, Yaiza, Uga, La Asomado, Conil and Tegoyo have contacted La Voz to report that they have been experiencing cuts in the supply for "practically the entire week." "We have been without water for four days," one of them revealed to the newspaper.
The reason for the cuts has been the technical problem suffered by one of the production racks of the Janubio desalination plant, which has caused a "significant decrease in the usual reserves," the company pointed out.
The citizens of the center of Tías have stated that they "can't take it anymore" with the lack of water in their homes and they express it that way. "We are tired of the continuous cuts," they complain. They do not trust the reasons communicated to them by Canal Gestión. "I don't believe that there isn't enough water due to a breakdown," they insisted.
Thus, they have reproached Canal Gestión for the "bad management" of the supply, something reiterated in Lanzarote. "More than a week ago they cut off the supply in the afternoon/evening and recovered it in the morning, but since Monday afternoon they have cut it off and it has not returned," the citizen assured.
From Canal Gestión they have communicated that the supply will return to normal throughout the day and that "they are working to solve it."
