Verónica Lucía, from Lanzarote, has been working as an artist since she was very young. Now at 17, she is studying Art History in Madrid, takes piano and singing lessons, and composes. She started her career with the help of her family, thanks to the influence of her father and grandfather, both also dedicated to music. "I started singing at the age of eight in my family's percussion association," she revealed in a recent interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.
In addition to singing, she has always been interested in the world of dance. Although from the beginning it "cost her" because of her shyness, she has managed to overcome it and get by in this area. "I have been a little shy in dancing, but it has helped me a lot," she revealed. "Dancing has given me the confidence I have now and the security I needed on stage," she recalled.
It was her father who helped her gain the necessary momentum to focus on music. "My father told me that at fifteen he was going to start recording music, that it was his birthday present," she recalled with joy. At which point she "didn't think twice" and entered the world of the music industry with the recording of her first album in 2020. "It was a process of discovering myself," she revealed about the lessons she has acquired by embarking on that project.
It is an album with a variety of styles and songs composed by "her and her father," she pointed out. Dedicating herself to music and working side by side with her father has been a wonderful experience. "Working with my father is a discovery," she stressed. Together they made a love song dedicated to the Canary Islands, "composed by her grandfather" and finished after his death. "We have to put it on, yes or yes," father and daughter thought before releasing it.
Her inspiration for writing her lyrics with more feeling is listening to the Mexican singer Luis Miguel. "I have listened to Luis Miguel all my life because of my mother and it has always helped me to release that feeling. He is a role model," she pointed out.
The young singer has released her song "Llamas" (Flames), a single with a lot of power but also full of sensitivity and feeling.
