Vaccination against Covid-19 is experiencing a new rebound in Lanzarote, both with booster doses and vaccination of children under 12 years of age, as well as with young people who had rejected it and are now coming to request the vaccine.
The one that had fallen furthest behind was the 20 to 29 age group, which has finally surpassed the 70% barrier with at least one dose. Specifically, this Monday it already reached 70.2%, while 67.4% have the complete regimen.
For its part, the last group to open up, children between 5 and 11 years old, is advancing rapidly, and in just six days it has already reached 22.9% with the first dose. In total there are about 9,700 children on the island in this age group, so nearly 2,220 have already been administered since vaccination opened for them last Wednesday.
As for the previous group, from 12 to 19 years old, 87% already have one dose and 84% have two. This places them not only far above the twenty-somethings, but also the 30 and 40 year old groups, who are also registering an increase in recent days.
This is how vaccination is progressing by age group
In the case of the 30 to 39 age group, 74.6% have already received one dose (72.9% with two), and in the 40 to 49 age group 83.5% already have one dose (82.5% with two).
As for the next two groups, which widely exceeded 90% months ago, vaccination has also continued to advance. In the 50 to 59 age group, 93.3% have already received at least one dose (92.4% with two); and in the 60 to 69 age group, 99.2% have managed to receive one dose (96.2% with two).
For its part, the 70 to 79 age group has finally reached 100% with one dose, and 1.2% are missing to receive the second. Above that age, in Lanzarote everyone has been fully immunized for months.
More than 27,000 booster doses administered
What is also advancing now is in the booster doses, which have already been applied to 23.5% of those who were immunized. In total, as of this Monday, 27,218 reminder doses had been administered, having already reached more than 80% of all those over 60 years of age.
The last groups authorized for that third dose were those from 50 to 59 and from 40 to 49. In the first, 2,202 booster doses have already been administered on the island and in the second, 1,389.
About 5,000 new vaccinated in just over a month
In just over a month, Lanzarote has managed to have about 5,000 more vaccinated people, including children but also many latecomers who have now decided to get vaccinated.
In total, with one dose there were 120,708 people on the island as of this Monday. This represents 81.07% of the target population (which was expanded since last week, to include children under 12 years), and 77.47% of the general population of the island. Since mid-November, that last percentage has increased by more than three points.
As for the complete regimen, 115,614 people already have it, which represents 77.65% of the target population and 74.20% of the general population.
