Two boats with 113 sub-Saharan immigrants on board have been rescued in the last few hours off the coast of Lanzarote, one of them in the early hours of the morning and another this morning, Salvamento Marítimo has reported.

The alert about the first one was received at around 7.30 pm this Saturday, when the Maritime Rescue center in Las Palmas received a telephone warning from an inflatable boat sailing about 40 miles off the coast.

The Guardamar Polimnia came to their aid, rescued the 69 people on board and transferred them to the port of Arrecife, on the island of Lanzarote, where they disembarked at around 2.00 am this Sunday.

Later, at around 7.00 am, the Maritime Rescue center in Las Palmas received a telephone call alerting them to another boat with immigrants.
The Guardamar Polimnia was mobilized again, and shortly afterwards, the Hyperion Ray vessel, which was sailing in the area, confirmed its sighting about 50 miles from Lanzarote.

At around 11.00 am, the Guardamar Polimnia reached the boat, rescued the 44 sub-Saharan men who were on board in apparent good health and transferred them to the port of Arrecife, where they will arrive at around 1.30 pm.
