The influx of impromptu pilgrims walking this Tuesday towards Mancha Blanca has finally led to the closure of at least part of the Peñón road to vehicle traffic. However, the road was closed after noon, when there were hardly any pilgrims left.

During the morning, hundreds of people have come walking from different parts of the island to visit the hermitage of the Virgen de Los Dolores. And from the early hours there has been a presence of the Civil Guard and the Local Police, but no roads had been closed because the pilgrimage was not called, having suspended the festive events due to the health crisis.

However, many Lanzarote residents have decided to attend this event anyway. In addition to the vicinity of the Farmer's Monument, where many residents have left their cars to continue the journey on foot, the road where there were more people walking was the Peñón road, which is the one that has ended up being closed hours later.

As La Voz has been able to verify, traffic had been cut off at least on the section between Mozaga and La Vegueta, in both directions.
