Arrecife Bus workers have denounced the "lack of civic-mindedness" of citizens, as they claim that they park their vehicles at the bus stop of T1 of the César Manrique – Lanzarote airport.

According to Comisiones Obreras, the workers of the passenger transport company Arrecife Bus are “desperate”, due to the impossibility of picking up and dropping off passengers in the designated area.

“The workers who cover the bus line on the routes to Guacimeta airport, day after day and at all hours, find the bus stop, intended for picking up and dropping off passengers from the airport arrivals area, occupied by parked vehicles, which also ignore all traffic signs indicating that they are at a bus stop”, denounce from Comisiones Obreras.

In addition, the union assures that citizens “also ignore the recently placed signage prohibiting passage except for authorized vehicles, thus violating the rules of the traffic code.” “They have put up all these signs but users continue to ignore them”, they add.

“This damage not only affects the workers, but also the users of this service who are forced to get on and off the bus on the road, thus compromising their physical integrity due to a possible accident”, they point out from the union. In addition, they point out that the institutions and AENA have indicated that they will reinforce surveillance with more Local Police in the area.

Comisiones Obreras, on behalf of these workers, "requests citizen collaboration” and that citizens exercise “respect and empathy with the workers and users of the service”, and therefore “do not improperly occupy the bus stops again”.
