The young Gabriel Navarro Oliveros, student of the Mid-Level Degree in Cooking of Zonzamas of CIFP Zonzama, has managed to reach the final of the national award ‘Promises of haute cuisine’ of Le Cordon Bleu.
Navarro, just 17 years old, thus becomes one of the ten finalists, being the only one from Canarias. The other Lanzarote native who was also fighting for a place in the final, Eire Palacios Herrero, finally has not achieved the coveted pass.
Gabriel Navarro has secured the pass to the final thanks to the jury's evaluation and the public's support in a vote that was open until last February 20.
To participate, both presented two video recipes in which they demonstrated their culinary and creative skills with a dish prepared from a common proposal: Stuffed quail and soufflé potatoes, with sauce and free garnish chosen by the candidate.
Now, all finalists must present the recipe they will prepare in the final according to the instructions provided by the school. This final will be held next April 14 at Le Cordon Bleu Madrid, where they will prepare their recipes.
There the jury will assess the techniques used in the preparation, the originality, the flavor, the presentation and the exhibition of the prepared dish. This jury will be made up of chef professors from Le Cordon Bleu Madrid and by highly prestigious chefs invited by the School.
