The XXII edition of the Lanzarote Island Gymnastics Festival began this Wednesday with the presentation by the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés; and the Councilor for Youth and Sports, Migdalia Machín, of the traditional commemorative gift to the promoter of this event, Lolina Curbelo.
For four days, some 1,500 boys and girls from 18 clubs and entities will participate in the exhibitions and in the closing ceremony, which will take place next Saturday, April 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the Varadero of Puerto del Carmen.
The Sports City pavilion hosted this inaugural day and will be the venue for all the exhibition exercises until Saturday morning. The most significant performance was that of the Canary Islands champion in the children's category, Sara Parrilla. The very young gymnast, from the Tenesa Sol Club, signed a spectacular exercise with a hoop.
The Samira Rif Arab dance academy, the Insular Sports Service, the municipal school of Yaiza, the rhythmic gymnastics clubs Tenesa Sol and Ayatima, the Fashion School center, the International School, and the Stephan Company dance school of Puerto del Carmen participated in this inaugural day.
Some of the schools or clubs are repeating this Thursday afternoon, although with new groups and numbers, and the Lanzarote Skating Association and the Fayna skating club, the Amqor Tigotan artistic gymnastics club, the Isla de Lanzarote Center, the Capellanía del Yágabo school, the IES César Manrique, and the municipal schools of Tinajo and San Bartolomé are premiering in this edition of the Festival.
