Vaccination against Covid continues to advance in Lanzarote, although at a rate that has nothing to do with that of previous months, since the challenge now is to reach all those who are lagging behind, especially in the groups between 20 and 49 years old.
In the last 10 days, a total of 3,592 doses have been injected on the island, when at the best moment - between the end of May and the beginning of June - almost 3,000 were administered in a single day.
However, although at a slower speed, the percentage of vaccination continues to increase and this Monday it was already close to 80% of the target population with the complete schedule. Specifically, the people immunized up to this day on the island were 109,875 (79.68%), and with one dose it has reached 113,747 (82.49%). This means that the island has stopped being ahead of the average of the archipelago, as it had been happening until now. In the Canary Islands, 79.65% of the target population has already received the two doses and at least 83.37% (almost one point more than Lanzarote).
In recent weeks, the group that is advancing the most on the island is the 12 to 19 year olds, which was the last to open, but has already overtaken the previous two: the 20 to 29 year olds and the 30 to 39 year olds.
Specifically, 71.4% of children and adolescents of vaccination age have received the two doses in Lanzarote, compared to 61.7% of those in their twenties and 68.7% of those in their thirties. In addition, with one dose the difference is even greater, which shows that the pace continues to be much slower to reach those age groups.
In the 12 to 19 year old group, 78.8% have received one dose as of this Monday, while in the 20 to 29 year old group it remains only at 65.8% and in the 30 to 39 year old group at 71.5%. Thus, children and young people are already close to the next group, from 40 to 49 years old, which is the other one that is stagnating. In that age range, the two doses have reached 80.1%, which is not even one point more than ten days ago.
In that same period, the percentage of vaccinated in the 12 to 19 year old group has increased 11 points, and the 20 to 29 year old group two and a half points.
Regarding the 50 to 59 year old group, 91% already have the complete schedule in Lanzarote, while in the 60 to 69 year old group it has reached 92.4% and in the 70 to 79 year old group 96.9%.
Thus, only the two groups that have reached 100% remain, those over 90 and those over 80, who completed the vaccination months ago.
