The new Costa Teguise health center has opened its doors this Monday. The brand new facility is located in the Algol shopping center, at the entrance to the tourist town. The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has not officially announced the opening of this center.
Patients who had an appointment this Monday received a call indicating that the office was already closed and that they had to move to the new facility. A sign has been placed in the old center, indicating that it is already closed.
The Tourism Councilor of the Teguise City Council, Antonio Callero, has stated on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero that the Tourism Office will send a communication to hotels and apartments so that they can inform their clients of the location of the new health center. Callero recalled that the new facility will be "temporary", since the City Council intends to demand the construction of a new infrastructure on an adjacent plot.
The Councilor of Teguise, Nori Machín, admitted months ago that the Costa Teguise office had become "small" and insisted that the tourist town deserved a "decent" center. The City Council offered this space to the Government of the Canary Islands and it was the Executive that executed this work.
