The Island has beauty in itself, but even more so with the presence of the twelve candidates for Miss and Mister Lanzarote, the fashion event par excellence of the island of Lanzarote that will be decided on next Friday, August 15, in the male category, and on Saturday, August 16 in the female category together with the election of Queen of the San Ginés 2008 Festivities.
The bar is high, and with an average age of around 20 years, the candidates have made it very difficult for the jury of this new edition.
The future gala that will decide the most beautiful faces was presented in the Assembly Hall of the Municipal Archive of Arrecife and was attended by well-known faces such as the current Miss Lanzarote, Lourdes Brito Camacho; Mister Lanzarote 2007, Yeray Betancort Paz; and the Queen of the San Ginés 2007 Festivities, Desiré Rodríguez Fuentes. They all agreed on the rewarding experience of holding the title of beauty and encouraged the candidates to continue in the world of fashion and, above all, to preserve friendships and camaraderie.
"I would like everyone to be able to experience the same thing that I have experienced, and above all that there is a lot of camaraderie", said the current Miss Lanzarote, Lourdes Brito, who next Saturday, August 16, will give her crown to the new beauty of the Island.
For her part, the Queen of the San Ginés 2007 Festivities, Desiré Rodríguez, encouraged all the candidates and wished them good luck in the contest, coinciding with Miss Lanzarote on the positive aspects of the experience.
The 24 aspirants in the two categories have a very busy weekly schedule leading up to the final contest, as they will be rehearsing daily until Friday the 15th, the day of the male gala, as well as visiting Los Jameos del Agua, among other events.
Although the Miss candidates will have to wait one day longer than their male colleagues, as their big day will be on Saturday and they will still have an "extra" rehearsal and hairdressing session. The nerves will also last one more day.
The event is organised by the Department of Festivities of the Arrecife Town Council in collaboration with the Miss and Mister Spain delegation in the Canary Islands.
