Technicians and operators from the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers proceeded this Wednesday to replace the "Bird-Fish" sculpture, which presides over the entrance and welcomes visitors to the Mirador del Río.
Forged in iron by the Centers' own workers, the piece is "an exact replica made with molds of the original structure created by César Manrique", according to the Corporation. They recall that the original "was very deteriorated and was knocked down by the strong wind storm that hit the island last December".
The CEO of the Entity, Benjamín Perdomo, celebrates "having been able to recover the essence of the emblematic center with a sculpture that restores the aesthetics to the original creation of César Manrique." "We will continue working to recover the brilliance of the Centers and repair the consequences of a decade of inaction and neglect by the previous management," he said.
