The Mercedes Medina association awards scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year

The Mercedes Medina Díaz Association has awarded the scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year this Friday at the "Agustín de la Hoz" House of Culture. Thirteen university applicants have benefited from the 28 applications submitted. 

Two university students will finish their degree in Medicine; four will study the last year of their degree and another seven will study the first, second and third levels of the degree. 

The preferred careers for scholarship recipients are Medicine, Administration and Management, Translation, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, History and Science of Music, Law and Physics. 

The universities chosen are the University of La Laguna, Extremadura, Granada, Seville, Valladolid, Complutense and Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid.  

The Mercedes Medina Association has also established four specific grants of 200 euros each for this year, of which three are on the reserve list.  

The total amount of the scholarships awarded is 50,000 euros, from the Association's own funds and the generosity of the companies: TABA CONTROL, GRUPO EMPRESARIAL CABRERA MEDINA, SPAR-LANZAROTE, VEGA DE YUCO, COMUNIGESTIÓN, FUNDACIÓN LÍNEAS ROMERO AND GRACIPLUS.  

The event was attended by all the scholarship recipients and families, businessmen, directors of secondary schools, teachers, representatives of the Arrecife City Council and other Education councilors from the interior of the Island, the Minister of Education of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Ascensión Toledo and the Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Migdalia Machín.
