The Los Valles Sociocultural Center hosted last Saturday the XII Festival of Young Soloists-Teguise 2013, which closed the course taught in the Folklore Schools of the municipality. Teguise has a total of 13 schools, one of them in La Graciosa.
The event began at 9:00 p.m. with the intervention of the trio "Anya Ensemble". Carmen, Elena and Begoña presented the numerous public that packed the center's facilities with two pieces, one baroque and one classical. The music of two violins and a cello started the first applause of the night.
Then, the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, addressed the public and explained the commitment of the City Council to continue maintaining the schools and thus create a quarry so that the groups dedicated to folklore can continue with the work of spreading traditional music and dances.
After the mayor's speech, the first musical chords began to sound with the base parranda, which this year was made up of the students themselves and reinforced by some teachers. Thus, the most advanced students from each of the schools passed through the stage and performed musical themes such as folías, isas, malagueñas and polkas.
As usual year after year, soloists with a little more experience on stage were also invited so that young students could enjoy their performance and their work. For this edition, there were three young people from the municipality, Néstor Martín, Moisés Hernández and Agustín Méndez, who masterfully performed a malagueña. Later, Professor Fefo Pérez directed an isa parrandera that was sung by the three invited soloists.
Councilors Olivia Duque and Echedey Eugenio also attended the event.
