The Animal Welfare area of Teguise, directed by Gerardo Rodríguez, in coordination with the Local Police, headed by Miguel Ángel Jiménez, is carrying out a series of informative talks so that the municipal agents are up to date with the new regulations on potentially dangerous animals, as well as the rules governing the possession of this type of animal.
Narciso Bueno, as veterinarian of the CAAT (Animal Shelter Center of Teguise) trained those present in the identification and evaluation of cases of animal abuse, with the objective of giving them practical tools to the agents on how to evaluate and classify cases where there is negligence in the treatment of animals by their owners, through the use of scales for that purpose. Also, the Local Police of Teguise will receive indications from the specialist technicians on the management of the feline colonies of the municipality.
In addition, in this first day, the personnel of the intervention team of the Early Warning Network of the Canary Islands for the detection and intervention of invasive alien species, RedEXOS, managed by Gesplan, presented this project and the action protocols established so far with the local administration, competent in urban areas, so that the Local Police, generally first responders, know the competences and ways of action in the management and handling of exotic and / or invasive species.
