The Management of the Lanzarote Health Area of the Canary Islands Health Service has recently tendered to the company Archipiélago Renting S.L. the supply of three vehicles for the transport of Public Health inspection technicians in the performance of their duties.

These are three hybrid vehicles acquired through renting with maintenance, which renew and expand the fleet of cars that had been used until now. The budget for this award is 81,347 euros and the service will last 48 months.

"The new vehicles represent an improvement in the conditions in which the professionals in charge of Public Health inspections in Lanzarote carry out their trips to the different locations on the Island," they point out. In addition, the Ministry reminds that these Health Area professionals "are responsible for carrying out the programs of the General Directorate of Public Health in the area of Food Safety and Environmental Health."

To this end, they control all establishments in the food chain, contaminants, food alerts, foodborne toxicoinfections, etc.

Likewise, these inspectors carry out the surveillance and analysis of drinking water, beaches, swimming pools and legionella. The technicians also inspect piercing and tattoo parlors, chemical products and materials in contact with food.
