The La Esterlisia de Soo Association will now be able to enjoy a leisure center for its activities. The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, and the head of the Social Welfare and Senior Citizen Service area, Nori Machín, visited and inaugurated the newly renovated facilities of the association, which was created in 2007 and has more than 40 members from the town aged between 50 and 90 years old.

After these works, the elderly will have a space in which to participate in the workshops proposed by the Teguise City Council or play ball in the enabled area, they explain from the Consistory. In addition to the new bowling alley, La Esterlisia has a garden area, new carpentry and furniture. "In short, a center for all seniors who want a meeting and recreation place, in which to interact and exercise their memory and manual skills in the workshops that are proposed each year from the Senior area," said Councilor Nori Machín.

"We have responded to a claim from the residents of Soo, who had requested a reform of the center's facilities, to turn it into a more comfortable meeting place for our seniors," said Oswaldo Betancort, who visited the center and shared an afternoon with the members of the Esterlisia Association and its president, María Jesús Machín de León. "We want seniors to continue participating actively in our municipality; and that is why we will continue to bet on offering comfortable leisure spaces, in addition to a program of activities that contributes to improving the health and well-being of all of them," added the mayor of Teguise.
