The King and Queen Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía will visit the Canary Islands of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife from November 20 to 22, sources from the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands informed Efe today.
The first island to receive the royal visit will be Lanzarote, the easternmost of the archipelago, which will host the King and Queen of Spain on Sunday, November 20, while the following day they will travel to Gran Canaria and on the 22nd to Tenerife.
Precisely in Tenerife, Don Juan Carlos I will attend, accompanied by Doña Sofía, a concert by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra that will be held in the Tenerife Auditorium on the same day that the King celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of his arrival on the throne, according to the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Ricardo Melchior.
In Gran Canaria, the Kings will preside over the presentation of the gold medals of Fine Arts in the Alfredo Kraus auditorium.
Sources from the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands could not specify the reason for the visit of the Kings to Lanzarote, since the official program is not yet available, although sources from the Lanzarote authorities told Efe that Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía will go to the island of the volcanoes for a family celebration.
