The Government of the Canary Islands sponsors seventy recording projects by Canarian groups, sixty of them full-length albums and ten promotional ones, among which an economic amount of 235,000 euros will be distributed, according to the Vice-Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The selection of the best works has been made by a committee of experts, who had to assess 201 projects submitted to the public call for this year. The economic amount that will be distributed among these works amounts to 235,000 euros (210,000 for full-length and 25,000 for promotion). It should be noted that the budget is distributed among these seventy projects in different amounts up to 8,000 euros, depending on the overall cost of each and the percentage requested.

The purpose of this measure is to promote musical production in the Canary Islands and the industry in general, as a means to develop the cultural values ​​of the Canary Islands and the diversity of languages, genres and musical styles. In this sense, the aid has been distributed in seven major categories: Folklore-Traditional Music, Jazz-Blues, Classical Music, Choral Music, World Music, New Music and Pop-Rock.

Among the 60 selected full-length record productions, there are eight New Music proposals presented by Beselch Rodríguez, Frankawara y el Bloke, Ekade, Lagareta Cultural Association, Toñín Corujo, Javier Infante, Holy Disgrace and Tricústico; while in the World Music section are Madera de Choro, Aridane, Luis Almeida, Claudio Briones, Quién quiere saber, Arabia Martín, Tiritaña, Nayaband, Caravansar, Virginia Guantanamera and Conjunto Carretera.

In the Jazz-Blues category, the works of The Good Company, Big Band de Canarias, Esther Ovejero, El péndulo de Foucault, Ana & Eliseo, rojo Quintet, David Quevedo, Esther Medina y Judith Machado, Martín Leiton and Guitar Juice have been selected; and in the Pop-Rock category, there are proposals from Fuel Fandango; Ely Qurbelo, Superstereo, Comsat, Almas de goma, Kalula, La Vieja Morla and Brutalizzed Kids.

In the Classical Music section, the projects presented by Benito Cabrera & Cuarteto Capriccio, Cristo Barrios, Esther Romón, Víctor Jesús Landeira, Enrique Mateu, Dúo Wanderer, Tuópali Dúo and Tak-nara will receive sponsorship. As for Choral Music, the projects of the University Polyphonic Choir, the Tenerife Chamber Choir and the Camerata Lacunensis were selected.

Folklore and Traditional Music have supported the projects of David Rodríguez Santana, Antonio Corujo Tejera, Amazig, Parranda Nosotras, Los que no escarmientan, Ydaira, Mª Carmen González, Renacer, Artenara, La parranda del cura and Jóvenes Cantadores.

In the second modality proposed by this call, the one aimed at promotional records, the works presented by Line, Susana Lang-Lenton, Intro, Aburrido Cósmico, Los gatos, Tu ex, Gaf, Manes, Yeray Jiménez and Aloperro have been selected.
