The IX Literature Week, organized by the Tías City Council, aims to promote reading and encourage an approach to books. During these days you can enjoy stories, told by their authors, in the Tías Municipal Library and in the "El Fondeadero" Civic Center. The mornings of these days will be dedicated exclusively to schoolchildren, while, at night, storytellers can be enjoyed by adults.

The fifth grade students from the "Alcalde Rafael Cedrés" and "Concepción Rodríguez Artiles" schools have been the first to enjoy this Literature Week. A story about Japanese traditions, told by a young woman dressed in the country's typical kimono, was chosen to open the conference. "I think this type of initiative is great, because the experiences you encounter when you are little are the ones that mark you, and if they encourage you to read from a young age, it's great," said Sahi Azuma, the storyteller who opened the conference. In addition, Azuma commented that she has been surprised by the attention the schoolchildren have given her and by how much they liked the story.

Among the stories that can be heard these days are "El Cuentatrillo" by Maricuela, "Pateras de Cuentos" by Aicha Kindicha and Hammú from Melilla, "Invisible Voices", "Tales of the Moorish Quarter", "The Tree of Words", dedicated to the elderly of the municipality of Tías, or "Before, tell", by Cristina and Miren.
