In the last two months, "more than 40,000 kilos of pruning remains and waste from green areas" have been removed in Arrecife, specifically from the areas of Tinasoria, Los Pitufos, Los Alonso and the El Cable urbanization, according to the City Council. This action is part of an "integral action plan to clean and improve", which has been developed by the capital's consistory through the Department of Parks and Gardens, led by Ascensión Toledo.
This cleaning plan began on January 30 and has consisted of weeding, collection of organic waste of plant origin, raking of the rofe cover, shrub pruning, pruning of climbing plants, tree pruning, crown balancing and tree skirting, cleaning of palm trees, transportation of plant waste to an authorized landfill, adaptation of the existing irrigation system, etc.", according to the Arrecife City Council.
For her part, the Councilor for Parks and Gardens of the capital explained that "the works have been developed around two axes." On the one hand, Toledo pointed out, "we have had agreement personnel to act in Tinasoria, Los Pitufos and Los Alonso", and on the other, "the company holding the Parks and Gardens service has been in charge of the El Cable area".

"The maintenance of green areas is everyone's responsibility"
The El Cable urbanization, according to the consistory, is part of the "management contract for the Service of creation, conservation, cleaning and maintenance of parks, green areas and gardens of the municipal district of Arrecife, of which the company Ferrovial Servicios is currently the concessionaire".
In this sense, Toledo commented that it is "the first time" that work has been done in "this area of the capital", where a comprehensive cleaning has been carried out and "20 tons of pruning waste" have been removed. For its part, "the rest of the waste removed corresponds to the work carried out in the common areas of the neighborhoods of Tinasoria, Los Pitufos and Los Alonso", developed between March 10 and 31 by 19 agreement workers", according to the Arrecife City Council.
Ascensión Toledo has stressed that "the maintenance of the good condition of the capital's green areas is everyone's responsibility". "The institutions have the obligation to execute the pertinent actions, but we must all have a little civic awareness. We must not forget that Arrecife is the capital of the Biosphere Reserve, a title held by the island of Lanzarote", added the Councilor for Parks and Gardens.
