The calls answered by the Care Service for Women Victims of Gender Violence have grown in Lanzarote by 20% in the last year. Nearly a hundred more women than in 2022 have used this service to request help, report their situation or get information. Thus, between January and June, a total of 594 calls were registered, compared to 495 in the first semester of last year.

Particularly in the month of June, telephone interventions have grown by 48% compared to May and 31% compared to June 2022. In this line, 123 calls were made by women to this 112 service. This is revealed by the figures of the Canary Islands Institute of Equality exposed by the Lanzarote Data Center. This growth follows the trend of the rest of the islands of the Archipelago, with the exception of La Palma.

Most of the calls concentrated complaints of physical violence without sexual assault (60) and non-physical violence (49). At the same time, situations of physical violence with sexual assault (six), consultations (three) were also reported, and on other occasions the victim care service served as a coordinator (five).

In Lanzarote, in most cases, there were Emergency interventions (89), where the victim was in a situation of imminent danger to life; followed by Information intervention (20) and Emergencies (14), in subjective situations that require attention and may be a priority.

By localities, the city of Arrecife, the most populated of the island, registered half of the calls (63). After the capital, it is worth noting the growth of calls in Tías (22), which scored nine calls in May; followed by Yaiza (22); San Bartolomé (eight); Teguise (seven); Tinajo (five); and Haría (three).
