Wind storm in Lanzarote

The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium recommends the suspension of aquatic activities and outdoor activities for this Monday afternoon and for Tuesday, due to the alert for wind, coastal phenomena and storms in which the Island is located.

As explained by the Consortium's Councilor, Marcos Bergaz, "in view of the possible consequences that the storm could have, people should stay in their homes and take special consideration of the recommendations issued by the Government of the Canary Islands."

The Consortium points out that it will continue to update the information depending on the evolution of the alert for adverse weather phenomena, "which could lead to the adoption of new measures."

In addition, it recalls that the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands has already made the decision to suspend teaching and extracurricular activities this afternoon, given the risk situation due to adverse weather phenomena due to wind.

Since this Sunday, Lanzarote has been on yellow alert for wind and orange for coastal phenomena, and this will continue at least until tomorrow. Gusts of more than 70 kilometers per hour are expected, accompanied by moderate persistent rainfall. Isolated storms may occur in areas near Lanzarote and La Graciosa this afternoon-night.
