The writer and professor of Spanish Literature and Theater and Dramatization at the University of La Laguna, Ernesto Rodríguez Abad, inaugurated last Friday the XVII edition "Teaching Art" which, organized by the Teacher Training Center (CEP) of Lanzarote, was attended by the Councilor for Education of the Arrecife City Council, Lorenzo Lemaur Santana, the director of the CEP, Eduardo Núñez, the director of Educational Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands, Victoria González, and numerous teachers from the island.
The talk, which was held in the assembly hall of the Municipal Archive, thanks to the collaboration of the capital's City Council in this activity that is now in its sixteenth edition, focused on "The Art of Educating and the Education of Art".
Author of some forty publications of narrative, children's and youth narrative, theater, children's theater, novels, sound publications, books of theory and essay, studies and research, which have earned him a dozen national and international awards, Abad is passionate about storytelling, narration and theater. This passion has led this professor of Spanish Literature and Theater and Dramatization at the University of La Laguna to create festivals, conferences and workshops and to give seminars, courses and lectures at universities in Spain, Tunisia, Brazil, Argentina and Puerto Rico.
The musical performance of the night was given by the pianist and professor Miguel Pérez (IES Arrecife), who performed Prelude (own composition), Oblivion (by A. Piazzola), Mad Rush (by P.Glass) and Milongadel Ángel (by A. Piazzola).
After the presentation of the 16th edition of Jameos magazine and the announcement of the photography, children's story and English sketch script competitions, at 10:30 p.m., in the El Charco Gallery of the Arrecife City Council and in the Casa del Miedo Society, an organization that also collaborates in this sixteenth edition of "Teaching Art", the individual exhibition of the artist and professor Rosa Vera (IES Blas Cabrera Felipe) and the collective exhibition were inaugurated: Paco Curbelo, Montserrat Sedeño, Mariola Acosta, Miriam Trápaga, Pepe Vera, José María del Corral, Javier Alonso, Roberto Casañas and many more.
Already, for this Monday, May 17, at 8:30 p.m., and in the assembly hall of the Casa del Miedo, the round table is scheduled to be held: "Lanzarote and the sea. Words to educate. Six perspectives on the marine environment". Thus, from the historical perspective, Antonio Montelongo (IES Salinas) will participate; from literature, Katiuska Betancort (IES Tinajo); from biology, Vidal Martín (researcher and director of the Museum of Cetaceans of the Canary Islands) and Domingo Concepción (researcher); from acoustic ecology, Luis Alberto Delgado (IES Salinas); and from a proposal of current art, Carlos Martínez Franco, Impresionoise, who will perform "Musician of other Masses", a ritual of digital music.
Rock concert and screening of short films
The XVII Cultural Week of the Lanzarote Teacher Training Center will continue its activities on Thursday, May 20, with a rock concert in front of the Casa del Miedo. It should be noted that Maiensy, band of Christopher Yrarrazával (Ceip Doctor Alfonso Spínola); Mareta, formed by teachers from Ceip Ajei and Ceip Alcalde Rafael Cedrés; and Lost Rubarboos, led by Fermín Asencio (Ceip Capellanía), will perform at this curious rock festival.
On Friday, May 21, at 8:30 p.m., and also in the halls of the Casa del Miedo, the closing ceremony of "Teaching Art 2010" will take place with the screening of the short film "Destino", by David García (Ceip Alcalde Rafael Cedrés); the puppet show "From Lanzarote, Doña Dolores", with Marta Guerra (Ceip Antonio Zerolo); the performance of the singer-songwriters Orlando Martín and José Antonio del Pino (Ceip Ajei), and the recital "Boleros y más", by Luis Alberto Delgado (IES Salinas). In addition, you can enjoy the interpretation of the monologues "La pelúa llegó y se fue", and "¡Qué día más triste!", by Juan Montelongo, by Carmela Barreto (Ceip San Juan) and Juan Montelongo.
After the closing of the conference, a trip to Madeira will be raffled among the public attending the different events. Also, the teachers who star in the different events will be eligible for the draw of a trip to Marrakech.
