The Candela Team of Social Research (eCIS) of the IES de Teguise presented on Friday, at the Convent of Santo Domingo, its research 'Women. The revolution always pending', a multidisciplinary study on the gender perceptions of Spanish Baccalaureate students.

This team was created in the 2017/2018 academic year within a program directed by the Department of Philosophy of the IES de Teguise and is composed of students from 4th year of ESO and 1st and 2nd year of Bachillerato. Its name is a tribute in memory of the deceased Alejandro Candela, colleague and member of the first team.

In the first edition, the students of the Candela Team carried out an investigation entitled 'Youth, education, employment and politics. Perceptions and expectations of the students of the IES Teguise', which they presented publicly, also in the Convent of Santo Domingo, in January 2019.

In the second edition (2018/2019 academic year), the object of research was 'Women' and they decided to expand the universe of study to other educational centers both in Lanzarote (IES César Manrique, IES Haría and IES Las Salinas) and in Fuerteventura (IES Santo Tomás de Aquino de Puerto del Rosario) and the Peninsula (IES Zurbarán de Badajoz).

In addition, the students added to the methodology interviews with professionals outside the center related to the subject, such as the magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands and president of the Association of Women Judges of Spain, Gloria Poyatos, and the associations Mararía and Tiemar.

Lou Andreas-Salomé Magazine

The result was the investigation 'Women. The revolution always pending', which they presented publicly last Friday. In addition, during the months of research, the Candela Team created a magazine for equality and in defense of women's rights, the Lou Andreas-Salomé Magazine (LAS Magazine), with the participation of public educational centers throughout the national territory and of a quarterly nature.

The Candela Team of the IES de Teguise is already working on a new investigation, in this 2019/2020 course, where the subject of study will be New Technologies, analyzed from anthropology, neuroscience, sociology, economics, addictions, politics and disability.
