The Varadero de La Tiñosa square vibrated and was moved on Sunday afternoon during the spectacular concert offered by Los Sabandeños, which brought together hundreds of people who crowded the square and enjoyed good music and the best Canarian folklore.

In the repertoire of this beloved Tenerife group, there was no shortage of seguidillas, isas and malagueñas. Dressed in their mountain peasant attire, Los Sabandeños also delighted us with their solo voices and with songs by Alfredo Kraus or Silvio Rodríguez.

With almost 80 albums released and two million copies sold, Los Sabandeños demonstrated their enormous quality to the numerous Lanzarote public and why they have been on stage for more than 50 years touring the world.

The Councilor for Tourism and Culture of Tías, Amado Vizcaíno, highlighted the "very good reception that this free concert has had within the events that we have organized on the occasion of the Canary Islands Day holiday".

Golden finale to the I La Tiñosa Folk Festival

The Los Sabandeños concert put the finishing touch to the first La Tiñosa Folk Festival organized by the Tourism and Festivities departments of the Tías City Council.

Thus, throughout yesterday, Sunday, folklore and the good Canarian atmosphere were the protagonists, with the young timple player Gabriel García taking to the Varadero stage, as well as the Gaida, Guágaro and El Pavón groups. All of them, together with Los Sabandeños, dedicated their performances to the Lanzarote singer Ico Arrocha, who recently passed away.

This Monday, May 30, Canary Islands Day, the events continue in the Plaza del Varadero. Thus, starting at 12 noon, there will be a Canarian wrestling exhibition with the senior teams of the Unión Sur Tías Wrestling Club and the Guadarfía de Arrecife Wrestling Club.

At 1:00 p.m. in the El Poril area, different jolateros and chalana races will be held, while the most traditional children's games such as sack races, the chair game or the spoon game will take place from 2:00 p.m. after the popular bogas, roscas and local wine barbecue that the Tías City Council has organized in collaboration with the La Tiñosa Fishermen's Association.
