Once again, the terrace of the Caletón Blanco Sociocultural Center in Órzola was too small to accommodate the hundreds of fans who gather at the Celestino Arráez Memorial. The event began at nine o'clock at night with the popular music group Guágaro, from the municipality of Tías. Under the musical direction of Belinda Cabrera, the group began its repertoire with some seguidillas from Lanzarote. During the half hour that Guágaro's performance lasted, all their songs were greatly applauded by the public that packed the venue.
Next, the Bujeque group took the stage. Its members, who came from Gran Canaria, specifically from the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana in Sardina del Sur, have been on a musical journey for twelve years, with three recorded albums and a great record of performances inside and outside the island.
Between groups, the town poets José Domingo de León with his grandson Tinguaro, Modesto de León and Marisol Viñoly took the stage, giving way to the hosts of the memorial: the Parranda Marinera de Órzola. The same one that maestro Celestino Arráez created more than twenty years ago and that today is carried out by his children, grandchildren and friends.
Once again, the parranda was received with a round of applause, followed by the first bars of the repertoire they had prepared for this year. There was no shortage of folías, malagueñas, polkas and isas, reaching the end with a parrandera isa, shared with the Guágaro and Bujeque groups.
Thus culminated the ninth edition of the Celestino Arráez memorial, supported at all times by the public and the municipal authorities, with the mayor José Torres accompanied by the Councilor for Festivities Ambrosio Delgado, the Councilor for Culture Carmen Gloria Figuera and the Councilor for Finance Barbara Hernández. The event was presented by Francisco José Navarro, official presenter of the memorial since its first edition.
