The Dirección General de Emergencias, based on the prediction of Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet), has declared the pre-alert for storms in Lanzarote, La Graciosa and Fuerteventura.

Specifically, the pre-alert will begin at 12:00 hours and the forecast points to stormy activity on these islands and their surroundings. Are expected locally strong showers throughout the afternoon and it is not ruled out that small hail may fall.

As you will recall, Lanzarote and La Graciosa are under yellow alert for wind, rain, coastal phenomena and for storms. These alerts will begin at 12:00 hours this Thursday, with the exception of the wind alert, which will come into effect at 19:00 hours today.

Wind gusts are expected that can reach and/or exceed 70 kilometers per hour, especially in the interior of the island, and rough sea conditions that can leave waves up to five meters high. As for the rain, rains are expected that can leave records of up to 15 liters per square meter in one hour.

However, from the Consorcio de Emergencias they have indicated that the precipitations will be accompanied by calima, so muddy water is expected. In fact, the pre-alert for suspended dust remains active. The manager of the Consorcio, Enrique Espinosa, has informed that "the rain will be concentrated between 5:00 p.m. this Thursday and 1:00 a.m. next morning" and that "emergency means and resources are prepared in case they are needed".
