The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has already landed in Lanzarote, where he will spend a few days of vacation with his family again. Sánchez has arrived accompanied by his wife and two daughters and is staying in the official residence of La Mareta, as he has done on other occasions.

The president was already in Lanzarote last summer and has also enjoyed Christmas in this same property, which was given to King Juan Carlos I by Hussein of Jordan in 1989. Later, the palace passed into the hands of the State Heritage and is used as an official residence.

During his visit, as confirmed by the Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, he is expected to participate in some institutional event. In August 2020, Pedro Sánchez took a break from his vacation to go to the Cabildo of Lanzarote, where he was received by the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and by the President of the Island Corporation, María Dolores Corujo, together with other authorities of the island and the archipelago.

For his part, the Canarian president has confirmed that in the coming days he will have "several events" with the head of the Government. "We will also talk about the Canary Islands, the Canary Islands agenda and what awaits us in September," he told reporters.

In addition, Torres has thanked Sánchez for choosing the Canary Islands for his vacations, because it allows the archipelago to be placed in the "national and international spectrum", and stressed that "it is good" that he opts for the archipelago because "he chooses a place to rest, a magnificent place, in this case the island of Lanzarote".
