Maritime Rescue has rescued two boats with 73 people on board, according to the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium.
The first 37 immigrants rescued on Saturday night, 25 men, nine women and three minors, all of Maghreb origin, were attended by Red Cross personnel upon arrival on the island, and four of them were transferred to a health center after presenting different pathologies, according to the Red Cross in a statement.
The boat in which they were traveling was located northwest of the island of Lanzarote by the Sasemar 101 plane, which was positioned in the area until the Salvamar Pomnia arrived, rescued the immigrants and transferred them to the La Cebolla dock, which arrived at around 11:30 p.m., according to sources from the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium and Maritime Rescue.
The other boat with another 36 Maghrebi people, 23 men, six women and seven minors, was located at about 5:18 local time about 80 kilometers from Arrecife, EFE sources from Maritime Rescue have indicated.
