This Saturday, July 1, Marcial Umpiérrez, patron and shipowner of Lanzarote, passed away at the age of 86. In addition, Umpiérrez was a member of the Parranda Marinera Los Buches, which this year received the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands.
Marcial Umpiérrez Martín's colleagues from the Parranda Marinera Los Buches will remember him for his "cheerful and collaborative spirit."

The organization has extended its "most sincere condolences" to his family and friends in "this moment of grief."
The wake has been set up in San Bartolomé, where the Word of God will be celebrated this Sunday, July 2 at 1:00 p.m., and from there to the Arrecife cemetery. There will be a funeral mass this Tuesday, July 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen.
