The Los Campesinos Folkloric Group will be in charge of giving the opening speech of the San Ginés festivities this year.

As pointed out by the Arrecife City Council, the event will take place next Friday, August 12 at the Church of San Ginés.

The Councilor for Festivities of Arrecife, Encarna Páez, has pointed out that the group "has been preparing since the carnivals" and insists that it will be a proclamation that "will be remembered for a lifetime." "We want to give coverage to our own," she adds.

Los Campesinos is a traditional music and dance group founded in Lanzarote in 1964, and for several decades the group has been led by the folklorist Miguel Ángel Corujo. More than 50 years in activity have helped the group to achieve several recognitions, including the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands, awarded by the regional government in 2003.
