The program of the festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Playa Blanca are coming to an end after almost a week of celebrations. Last weekend the traditional maritime procession took place, where the patron saint of sailors sailed the waters of the southern town accompanied by numerous faithful.
The events framed in the program of this year's festivities will end on July 24, with a great popular barbecue that will take place at the fairgrounds starting at 8:00 p.m. Later, the Lanzarote Swing group will liven up the evening with good music, which will put the finishing touch to the Playa Blanca festivities for this year 2010.
But before the 24th arrives, there are still several spaces for leisure and fun. On July 22, "Children's Day, Euro Day" will be celebrated, an initiative by which all the attractions available at the fair will have the price of 1 euro per ride. The special price of 1 euro is offered from 7 p.m. until the end of the day.
On Friday, July 23, there will be an event for folklore and traditional music of the Canary Islands. This is the "Canarian Tenderete", a festival that will feature performances by the Tebete gang and the Raíces group. The premises of the La Aurora Neighborhood Association will host this traditional event starting at 8:30 p.m.
Finally, and before the great popular barbecue that will put an end to the celebrations, it is planned to hold the "Pulpeo and Fishing Contest", which will have the town's beach as its starting point at 09:00 hours.
