Lanzarote will become next Thursday, March 23, the headquarters of the commemorative act of World Meteorological Day for the first time in history. This event promoted by the World Meteorological Organization will be held on the Island under the name 'The future of weather, climate and water through generations'.

The commemorative act will be held at 12:00 noon in the Assembly Hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and will be attended by the island's president, María Dolores Corujo, the sub-delegate of the Government in Las Palmas, Teresa Mayans, and the head of training and crew training Binter, Darío Barrejón, among others.

Dolores Corujo highlights the choice of the island by the State Meteorological Agency of the Canary Islands to host a representative date aligned with the sustainable and environmentally friendly model promulgated by the Institution.

“From the Cabildo we are committed to caring for the environment, nature and unique landscapes of Lanzarote and for a socioeconomic model based on the sustainability and responsibility of each and every one of the people who enjoy the paradise that our Island represents. We are aware that the climate, among other factors, is one of the main attractions we have and we must work together to preserve these qualities”, highlights the president.

Within the framework of the event, Barrejón will star in the conference 'Influence of meteorology on aeronautical operations and its impact on CO2 emissions'.
