Lanzarote has suffered the warmest month of November since records began. This is according to data from the preliminary climatological report of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The highest average temperature recorded in a month of November on the island of volcanoes was 22.5 degrees in the historical series and corresponded to the year 1972, while at present the highest minimum reached 25.9 degrees.

The average temperature of the islands has been 20.1 degrees, being 2.3 degrees higher than usual at this time of year. The eleventh month of 2024 is classified as "extremely warm" and is the warmest recorded since data collection began in 1961.

This mismatch is greater in the province of Las Palmas, where average temperatures were 2.4 degrees higher than the records indicated, reaching an average of 21.6 degrees in Lanzarote, La Graciosa, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.

Thus, in the eastern province the average maximum temperature was 25.5 degrees, a mismatch of three degrees, with respect to what is usual for this month of the year. November was also "extremely warm" in the minimums, with an average of 17.7 degrees, 1.8 more than the previous year.

The increase in temperatures was also reflected in the number of tropical nights, i.e. those where the thermometer was above 20 degrees. Thus, 74.49% of the Canary Island stations recorded at least one tropical night.

In terms of maximum temperatures, La Graciosa recorded the third highest temperature in the Canary Islands in November, on the 9th, when it reached 33.4 degrees. Meanwhile, Lanzarote suffered the seventh and eighth highest temperatures in the Canary Islands, with 31.8 degrees on 9 November in Tinajo and 31.8 degrees on 10 November in Tías.

Likewise, the highest minimum temperature was recorded in Lanzarote, with a maximum of 25.9 degrees on 9 November in Yaiza, and La Graciosa recorded 24.3 degrees as the highest minimum on the same day.
